Ansel Elgort Circling Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver

That now seems to be moving forward as his next movie with Variety reporting that Working Title Films–the producers and financiers of the “Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy” (i.e. Shaun of the DeadHot Fuzz and The World’s End)–will be teaming with MRC (Ted) to finance the movie. Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will be co-producing along with Wright’s regular producing partner Nira Park.

In the past, Working Title have mostly distributed their films through Universal and Focus Features (as well as its genre spin-off Rogue) but the trade says that Sony might distribute the movie through their deal with Tri-Star.

On top of that, there are multiple reports that actor Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our StarsDivergent) is in early talks to play the lead role in the film, a role that’s been chased by the likes of Logan Lerman and John Boyega, who already has a connection with Wright through his Attack the Block director Joe Cornish.

Meanwhile, Tracking-Board has more details about the film’s plot which has been kept in secrecy, saying that it’s a crime-based action film in which the lead character, named Baby because of his young-looking face, is a getaway driver for different bank robbers. One day, he gets in trouble when a bank robbery goes wrong, putting him on the run from various parties. Their story also mentions that Emma Stone and Michael Douglas are in discussions to play Baby’s love interest and mentor in the movie, the latter having been cast by Wright as Hank Pym in Ant-Man
