Matt Reeves Will Direct Bank Heist Thriller for Fox

The Hollywood ReporterMattReeves2 has word that director Matt Reeves, hot off of this year’s $708 million-grossing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, has signed on to make an untitled bank heist thriller at Fox based on an original pitch by Matt Charman.

The film, described as a cross between Heat and Dog Day Afternoon, will be produced by Tobey Maguire through his Material Pictures label with Matt Plouffe and Reeves, though no word on whether the Spider-Man actor will star in the movie. The project was developed at Material Pictures several years ago, and was snatched up by Reeves recently as a directing vehicle after he finishes a Planet of the Apes sequel which Fox has slated for July 29, 2016.

Charman is hot off of Steven Spielberg’s Tom Hanks-led Untitled U-2 Spy Plane Film (also known as St. James Place), which he co-wrote with Joel and Ethan Coen and comes out October 16, 2015.
