Synopsis:
This is a board game combined with a DVD and it is based on the Lilo & Stitch TV series. Each player gets a game piece then spins the dial on the DVD in order to see how many spaces they progress along the Hawaiian game board. Along the way each player may face challenges such as one of 10 on-screen games, activities, or surprise appearances by characters from the series. As you win challenges, you gather experiments (otherwise knows as Stitchs cousins). The player with the most experiments at the end wins. You are also treated to two episodes of the Lilo & Stitch TV series.
The Movie:
My kids are big fans of the Lilo & Stitch TV series. When this DVD game arrived at the house, they were eager to rip it open and play it. They both love Stitch and they both love DVD games, so this was right up their alley.
The game opens with two options the short version and the long version of the game. We decided to play the long version. They really got into it at first and were totally engrossed, but after an hour they wandered away to other things. My advice is that younger players should play the shorter version.
What they did play they enjoyed. They liked collecting experiment pogs and they liked spinning the dial on the DVD screen. The side activities were fun as well. In one game you place bets on which gecko will win a race. In another game you try to guess how many coconuts are on the screen. In another game you help Lilo and Stitch find a hiding place from Nani.
The characters from the TV series play a big role in the game (and the original voices are used). Jumba comes on occasionally to challenge you to tests. You must try to hold your breath longer than him, yell longer than him, and other things. Dr. Hamstervil also comes on occasionally to taunt you. The game also manages to maintain the same twisted sense of humor as the movies and series.
As far as the game goes, it is more fun than simply playing a board game. The DVD enhances the fun of the whole thing. It is also fun for both kids and adults who are roped in to play.
The Extras:
Theres not much in the way of extras on this DVD. At the end of it all you are rewarded with two episodes of the new TV series. One is entitled Clip and features a rogue experiment that cuts peoples hair. I dont recall off the top of my head what the second one was, but it kept my kids still for half an hour. That alone made it worth it. The kids also liked the collectible experiment pogs. They feature experiments that havent been seen on the TV show yet.
The Bottom Line:
Overall, if your kid is any kind of fan of Lilo & Stitch, this is something youll want to pick up for them.
