Mike Mitchell is in talks to direct Shrek 4 for DreamWorks Animation, says The Hollywood Reporter. Shrek the Third, helmed by Chris Miller and Raman Hui, opens May 18.
Written by Tim Sullivan, the fourth installment will chronicle the continuing adventures of Shrek and friends, which is based on the children’s book “Shrek!” written by William Steig and published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Josh Klausner recently penned a rewrite.
DreamWorks Animation’s Jeffrey Katzenberg, Bill Damaschke, Kristine Belson and Chris Kuser are overseeing for the studio.
Shrek grossed $484.4 million worldwide, while the second one raked in $920.7 million.
