Six days ago, Variety reported that Focus Features co-chair James Schamus had revived A Little Game and brought in frequent collaborator Ang Lee to direct. Problem is, Ang Lee’s assistant just told Taiwan media (via Sina) that it’s not true. The assistant stated that Lee hasn’t even been offered to direct the film.
Variety said that the project was expected to be Lee’s next after Lust, Caution. The article mentioned that Schamus is rewriting the romantic comedy, an adaptation of a French play called “A Little Game of Consequence.”
The film centers on a happily engaged Brooklyn couple who decide to play an experiment on their friends; when a rumor goes around that they have broken up, they play along to find out what their pals really think of their coupling.
