A new Nintendo Direct Indie World and Partner Showcase took place today, August 27, 2024, showcasing a plethora of new and upcoming games.
Viewers were treated to plenty of games for the Nintendo Switch and other platforms, most of which are launching in 2024. There were some expected updates, plenty of surprises, and even shadow-dropped games. We’ve compiled all of the announcements from the event below.
All Nintendo Switch news announced at Nintendo Direct August 2024
- The Shrek Special Pack DLC arrives for PowerWash Simulator this fall.
- Tetris Forever is a compilation of previous games as well as a new Tetris Time Warp game. The collection is being released later this year on Switch to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary.
- Tetris NES version comes to Nintendo Switch Online this winter, while Tetris 99 will get a Maximus Cup update.
- 3D open-world third-person action-adventure Star Overdrive launches as a timed Nintendo Switch exclusive in 2025.
- Goat Simulator 3 was released digitally on Switch today. A physical version will arrive in November.
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 1st is a remake of the turn-based RPG that launches in 2025 on Nintendo Switch.
- Star Wars: Hunters Season 3 launches on September 24.
- Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition also launches on September 26 for PS5, PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy will be released on Switch in November.
- The Disney Dreamlight Valley “End of Summer” in-game event begins on September 4.
- SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game is a physics-based sandbox adventure launching on October 4 on PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Pre-orders are available now.
- Fitness Boxing 3: Your Personal Trainer now includes seated training exercises when it arrives on Switch on December 5.
- Capcom Fighting Collection 2 includes 8 fighting games like Power Stone and Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001. It releases on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2025.
- MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will be released digitally on Switch, PS4, and PC on September 12. A physical version will arrive on November 22.
- Alchemy-themed JRPG Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land introduces a new protagonist, Yumia. The game launches on PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC early in 2025.
- The delayed Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars arrive on Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC as a bundle on March 6, 2025.
- Preorders are now open for DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, which launches on November 14 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
- Castlevania Dominus Collection brings three Nintendo DS games to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC today.
- Tales of Graces f Remastered brings the Wii game to Nintendo Switch on January 17, 2025.
- MySims: Cozy Bundle brings MySims and MySims Kingdom exclusively to Nintendo Switch on November 19.
- Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2 and the Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach – Ruin DLC will arrive on Switch this holiday season.
- Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of The Rings Game got a holiday 2024 release window.
- Funko Fusion has seemingly been delayed on Switch to a vague holiday 2024 release window.
- Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is a reimagined Rune Factory experience coming to Nintendo Switch and PC in spring 2025.
- Yakuza Kiwami arrives on Switch on October 24.
