Brandy Norwood faces an evil mother-in-law in the latest trailer for A24’s The Front Room. The footage depicts a concerned Norwood fighting to protect her child from her devilish mother-in-law, played by Kathryn Hunter.
“Everything goes to hell for newly-pregnant Belinda (Norwood) after her mother-in-law (Hunter) moves in,” the official synopsis from A24 reads. “As the diabolical guest tries to get her claws on the child, Belinda must draw the line somewhere…”

What to Expect in The Front Room?
The Front Room stars Norwood as Belinda, Hunter as Solange, Andrew Burnap as Norman, and Neal Huff as Pastor Lewis.
After a seven-year hiatus from film acting, Norwood, known professionally as Brandy, returned in 2023 to star in Netflix’s Best. Christmas. Ever! Earlier this year, Norwood appeared as Cinderella in Descendants: The Rise of Red. The Front Room is Norwood’s first horror film since 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
The Front Room is written and directed by Max and Sam Eggers in their feature film debut. The duo are the younger brothers of Robert Eggers, the director of The Northman and Nosferatu. The film is an adaptation of Susan Hill’s 2016 short story of the same name.
Producers include Lucan Toh, Babak Anvari, Bryan Sonderman, Julia Oh, and David Hinojosa.
The Front Room arrives in theaters on September 6, 2024.
