MCU fans are curious to know if Ryan Reynolds is done with Deadpool or will appear in a fourquel or Avengers: Secret Wars. Deadpool & Wolverine was released recently, featuring a multiversal adventure with action-packed scenes, hilarious jokes, and great cameos. The MCU movie mostly received a positive audience reception and is already setting the box office on fire, crossing the $550 mark globally. But was this the last ride for Merc with a Mouth? Here’s everything you need to if Deadpool will return for Deadpool 4 or Avengers: Secret Wars.
Was Deadpool & Wolverine Ryan Reynolds’ last movie as Wade Wilson?
Reynolds might not return to play Wade Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool after Deadpool & Wolverine per his recent comment.
Recently, Reynolds conversed with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he revealed his character’s fate. He denied the possibility of returning to the franchise for a fourquel and has not agreed to any future films. Moreover, he joked about his wife Blake Lively, and his children would divorce him if he looked forward to another installment.
“Oh god no. My wife and children will divorce me. Jimmy, I have no prenup with any of them. I will be capital ‘B’ broke, and in turn, probably then doing Deadpool 4 ’cause I’d need the money.”
Previously, in another interview with Variety, Reynolds shared his openness to star in a solo or an ensemble movie. However, he revealed that Deadpool & Wolverine also look like the last time he would don the Merc-with-a-mouth costume. Given his recent comments, his chances to return to the MCU look slim. However, Marvel Studios has yet to give a word on his character’s future.
Will Ryan Reynolds return for Deadpool 4 or Avengers: Secret Wars?
Reynolds is unlikely to star in Deadpool 4 and Avengers Secret Wars, following his disappointing comments on his character’s return.
Mostly, MCU’s end credits scenes either solve an unresolved plot query or tease a character’s future in the franchise. In Deadpool & Wolverine, the post-credits featured Merc with a mouth back at the TVA to prove that Johnny Storm bad-mouthed Cassandra Nova. While this credit scene doesn’t tease anything, it does reveal Deadpool’s ability to hop between timelines. This does open doors for him to reappear in any future MCU films as a cameo or in a vital role. However, for now, this possibility stands a lower chance as Reynolds has ruled out his return.
