In the penultimate episode of House of the Dragon Season 2, Addam, Hugh, and Ulf become the riders of Seasmoke, Vermithor, and Silverwing, respectively. This has prompted the viewers to wonder which are the unclaimed dragons that remain in Westeros.
List of all unclaimed dragons in House of the Dragon Season 2
As of Season 2 Episode 7, there are three unclaimed adult dragons: Grey Ghost, Sheepstealer, and the Cannibal. These three are truly wild dragons as none of them had any riders before the Dance of the Dragons. In George R. R. Martin’s book, the smallfolk of Dragonstone named all three of them based on their prevalent characteristics.
Grey Ghost
As the name suggests, Grey Ghost was a pale grey-white dragon in the book, with his color being sometimes described as that of the morning mist. Up until Season 2 Episode 7, Grey Ghost has not appeared in the show, though he has been indirectly mentioned once in the Season 1 finale.
Grey Ghost is arguably the most elusive of all dragons in the series. If House of the Dragon follows the book in this regard, Grey Ghost will remain riderless. In the book, Alyn, Addam’s brother, tried and failed to claim the dragon. But, given the character doesn’t seem to have any desire to be a dragonrider in the show, that might not be repeated in this adaptation.
Sheepstealer
In the book, a dragonseed named Nettles becomes Sheepstealer’s rider. However, Nettles hasn’t been introduced in the show yet. And it increasingly appears that Rhaena Targaryen is set to replace Nettles as Sheepstealer’s rider in the series. So, the chances of Nettles appearing in future episodes are not prominent.
The Cannibal
The Cannibal was named so because he often ate smaller dragons. There are various speculations about his origin, with some claiming that he was born before the Targaryens arrived on Dragonstone. If that is indeed the case, he will be older than Vhagar and Vermithor.
