Fans have been wondering whether the Hulk Hogan biopic movie starring Chris Hemsworth has been canceled or delayed. They are also curious about whether Chris Hemsworth has left the project as he has been a part of it since 2019. It’s also intriguing to know that there has not been any concrete or official update about the project for a while. The currently unreleased project also has Joker director Todd Phillips attached to helm it.
So, has the Hulk Hogan biopic movie been canceled or delayed? Is Chris Hemsworth still playing the iconic wrestler? Here’s what is currently known.
Is the Hulk Hogan biopic movie canceled?
It is uncertain if the Hulk Hogan biopic movie has been canceled.
However, the project has seemingly been plagued by a stagnant development process. This is evident as there haven’t been any official updates about its development or production as of July 2024. Moreover, the project’s rights have also left Netflix and landed at another studio according to Hulk Hogan, who confirmed the same in an October 2023 Insight interview with Chris Van Vliet.
In the interview, Hogan attributed the project’s stagnant development to a “business-wise situation” where Netflix had “missed the date”. He also confirmed that his biopic rights were “somewhere else”. However, he did express his hopes that the project could still be made, noting that it had a “huge opportunity”.
Is Chris Hemsworth still attached to play Hulk Hogan in his biopic movie?
Chris Hemsworth is still attached to play Hulk Hogan in his biopic movie. He has not left the project.
Hemsworth, who himself is still in the dark about the project, recently gave an update about it in an exclusive Screenrant interview while promoting Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. He expressed his interest in working on the project but clarified that it had not been officially greenlit.
Hemsworth said, “To work with Todd Phillips, who we discussed making that film with, would be an honor and a fantastic opportunity. I can’t say it’s officially happening yet. If there was a green light, I’d get to work on it.”
It remains to be seen whether the Hulk Hogan biopic will ever see the light of day. However, at the rate the project’s development is going, it wouldn’t be surprising if it got canceled.
