Jake is back, this time with an elevated hairstyle and a new motorcycle. Walt Disney Studios has shared a photo from the set of Freaky Friday 2, showing Chad Michael Murray’s return as Jake.
The upcoming sequel reunites Murray with his Freaky Friday co-stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. The body-swapping comedy, released in 2003, starred Murray as Anna’s (played by Lohan) love interest. Tess (Curtis), Anna’s mother, had reservations about Jake until she came to know him better after inadvertently switching bodies with her daughter. Anna and Jake ended up dating at the end of the film, complete with Tess’s approval.
What to Expect From Freaky Friday 2?
It is still unknown how Murray’s character will play out in the sequel, but fans can expect that his character will continue to play a big part in Anna’s life. In addition to Lohan, Curtis, and Murray, other returning stars include Mark Harmon as Ryan, Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, Haley Hudson as Peg, Rosalind Chao as Pei-Pei, Lucille Soong as Pei-Pei’s mom, and Stephen Tobolowsky as Mr. Bates. Joining them are Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Manny Jacinto, Julia Butters, and Sophia Hammons.

Directed by Nisha Ganatra (Late Night), Freaky Friday 2 will pick up years after the events of the original film. It will see the now-adult Anna having a daughter of her own. However, as life turns out to be looking good for the mother-and-daughter duo, the body-swapping dilemma that turned their lives around may once again send them into a chaotic situation.
“Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice,” the synopsis for the sequel reads.
Freaky Friday 2 will arrive in theaters in 2025. Freaky Friday, meanwhile, is available to stream on Disney+.
