ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive The Convert clip, showcasing more of the upcoming action thriller starring Guy Pearce. It will make its debut on July 12 in theaters and on VOD.
What happens in The Convert clip?
In the clip, Pearce’s Thomas Munro comes across a British settlement under attack, and gets attacked by a member of a Māori tribe himself. Munro is aided in fending off the attack by a woman, who he quickly helps onto his horse before running off.
“The film follows Guy Pearce as Thomas Munro, a newly arrived preacher in a colonial town in early 19th-century New Zealand who finds himself at the center of a long-standing battle between two Māori tribes,” reads the synopsis for the film.

The film is directed by Lee Tamahori from a screenplay he co-wrote with Shane Danielsen. Joining Pearce are Tioreore Ngatai-Melborne as Rangimai, Antonio Te Maioha as Maianui, Jacqueline Mckenzie as Charlotte, Lawrence Makoare as Akatārewa, Dean O’Gorman as Kedgley, Ariki Turner as Uenuku, and Duane Evans as Pahirua. It is produced by Robin Scholes, Te Kohe Tuhaka, Andrew Mason, and Troy Lum.
Besides The Convert, Pearce will next be seen in four more projects. These include David Cronenberg’s arthouse horror film The Shrouds with Diane Kruger, Brady Corbet’s drama film The Brutalist with Adrien Brody, the prison drama Inside with Cosmo Jarvis, and the supernatural thriller Killing Faith with DeWanda Wise.
