The internet seems to be buzzing with excitement over a new Warcraft 2 trailer. Based on the namesake video games, Warcraft is a 2016 movie featuring Travis Fimmel and Paula Patton. And now, the trailer for its sequel is doing the rounds on the internet. However, the rise of fan-made trailers has left many fans questioning the authenticity of this trailer.
So, is the Warcraft 2 trailer real or just another cleverly crafted fan creation? Here are the details.
Is the Warcraft 2 movie trailer for Netflix real or fake?
The new Warcraft 2 movie trailer for Netflix is fan-made and fake.
Titled “WARCRAFT 2: Final Chapter,” it was uploaded on June 7, 2024, by the YouTube channel Foxstar Media. It cleverly uses stills from the 2016 film. Moreover, the video footage seems to use AI-generated voice-overs and clips of other actors. It features Henry Cavill as the Lich King.
The Foxstar Media YouTube channel is known for crafting unofficial trailers that pique fan interest for upcoming shows and films. At the moment, the Warcraft 2 trailer has garnered close to 177K views, but it’s a fake concept trailer.

Before this, another Warcraft 2 movie trailer for Netflix was uploaded on the same YouTube channel in September 2023. The video, titled “WARCRAFT 2: The Lich King – Full Teaser Trailer,” has garnered almost 700,000 viewers, but was fan-made as well. This trailer employs a similar technique and uses existing shots from the original Warcraft movie.
It creates a hyper-realistic experience by incorporating existing shots with AI-enhanced voice-overs of actors.
Is Warcraft 2 happening on Netflix?
Warcraft is among Netflix’s Top 10 trending movies, which is why fans continue to ask for a sequel. However, the following installment to the 2016 video game-based movie is not confirmed to happen yet.
In an IGN interview of April 2024, the Warcraft franchise head John Hight opens up on the possibility of a future Warcraft movie. He asserts that the idea would undoubtedly be “interesting.”
But, Hight added:
“We make games and I think that games will always be our core, and so Warcraft will be centered around that. I don’t want to fall into the trap of ‘I will be a filmmaker now.’ I think leave that to the folks that really know what they’re doing.”
Whether Netflix acquires the rights to make Warcraft 2 happen remains to be seen.
Will Paula Patton and Travis Fimmel return for Warcraft 2?
There is currently no official announcement ensuring the return of Paula Patton and Travis Fimmel for Warcraft 2, as the movie itself has not been confirmed to be in production. As suggested by the fake trailers above, even Henry Cavill isn’t set to appear in Warcraft 2 at the moment of writing.
