Former WWE champion John Cena had an illustrious wrestling career and is a future Hall of Famer. He has now transitioned into a Hollywood actor and has been experiencing great success in his acting career in the past few years. He’s landed roles in the Fast and Furious franchise and entered the DC Comics universe, playing the character of Peacemaker. However, despite his Hollywood success, wrestling fans remain curious about his potential return to the ring.
Cena’s Hollywood commitments have necessitated a part-time role in WWE, leading to fewer appearances with the promotion. Currently, there seems to be no concrete plan for his return to WWE programming due to his ongoing Hollywood commitments.
John Cena WWE plans: Is he leaving?
WWE superstar John Cena, now 47 years old, has been making very few appearances in the promotion. This has led fans to question whether the 16-time WWE champion is on his way out.
Cena’s in-ring activity has indeed slowed down considerably. Notably, his last singles victory came in 2018 against Triple H. His most recent singles match was against Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel in November 2023, where Sikoa defeated Cena in dominant fashion, raising further speculation about his future with the promotion. This recent loss, combined with his reduced appearances, has some wondering if Cena is considering retiring from WWE.
John Cena says his WWE journey is ‘coming to an end’
Former WWE champion John Cena recently shed light on his future with the company. Earlier this year, the 47-year-old star mentioned his plans to wrestle until he turns 50. However, in a recent interview with People Magazine’s website, Cena hinted at his WWE journey coming to an end. He stated, “I know my WWE journey is coming to an end, but fitness was a part of my life long before the WWE journey started. Fitness will be a part of my life, hopefully as long as my heart’s beating. So the WWE has been a great chapter in my life — it’s year 23 for me — and the sun’s setting on that chapter in the book, but fitness will never not be a part of my life.”
John Cena, who has had a successful career spanning more than two decades, was last seen in the promotion on Raw after WrestleMania 40. He wrestled in a tag team match with Awesome Truth against The Judgment Day.
