While Deadpool & Wolverine is the dream crossover that Ryan Reynolds always wanted to make, director Shawn Levy already has another team up in mind involving Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Levy has been reported to be a contender for Avengers 5, and he will also be involved with Stranger Things Season 5 in the coming year. But besides that, he has his eyes set on a dream crossover involving Deadpool and Spider-Man.
Shawn Levy wants to direct a Deadpool and Spider-Man movie next
After Spider-Man: No Way Home brought Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Web-slingers in the same frame as Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, Deadpool & Wolverine arguably became the next biggest crossover event for the MCU. But, there is potential for both Deadpool and Spider-Man to team up as well because that’s what Shawn Levy wishes to do next.
In an interview with Total Film Magazine (via Games Radar), Levy said:
“The thing about Deadpool is I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity. But, boy, I’d sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to make.”
He continued praising Tom Holland’s abilities in crossover events:
“I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else.”
Holland’s Wall Crawler has already appeared in four MCU crossover events, including Spider-Man: No Way Home. But, with the Deadpool & Wolverine director wanting to direct a crossover involving him, there is a huge possibility for MCU’s Deadpool 4 and Spider-Man 5 (or 4) to be turned into a Deadpool & Spider-Man team-up movie. However, nothing is confirmed at the moment.
The two characters had an iconic “bromance” in the Spider-Man/Deadpool comic series. Many enjoyed seeing them together in Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man animated show. So, MCU fans might be intrigued about their alliance on the big screen. Whether that officially gets greenlit remains to be seen.
Deadpool & Wolverine arrives on July 26, 2024.
