It turns out Schweick guards one of the seven gates of hell, and a white-eyed woman prophecies that the particular gate will be opened at a certain time. 54 years later, a New Yorker named Liza Merrill inherits the hotel and travels to New Orleans to refurbish it. However, she experiences strange occurrences inside the hotel, and soon finds out about Room 36.
