Amanda Knox grew up in Seattle with her mother, Edda, and younger sister, Deanna, per People Magazine. Knox attended Seattle Preparatory School, graduated in 2005, and then went to the University of Washington. She studied creative writing, German, and Italian, before moving to Perugia, Italy, as a foreign language exchange student. There, she lived with British exchange student Meredith Kercher and two other Italian roommates. She also worked part-time in Patrick Lumumba’s local Congolese bar.

Moreover, Knox received an additional three-year sentence on a count of slander for falsely accusing Patrick Lumumba of murder.
Amanda Knox served four years in prison after her first conviction. Her and Sollecito’s first acquittal came in 2011, per CNN. Knox returned to Seattle to her family at the time. However, the Italian Supreme Court overturned their acquittals, and an appellate court reconvicted them in 2014. Knox never attended the trial. A year later, the Supreme Court cleared them of all charges in Meredith Kercher’s murder, but the slander count remained.
