In Netflix’s Eric, Edgar follows Yuusuf Egbe and Raya into the sewers to run away from home. Yuusuf and Raya have differing opinions about what to do with Edgar, which leads to the two butting heads. Despite being a major part of the plot, the show skims over what happens to Yuusuf and Raya, likely confusing at least part of the audience. We’ll explain the fates of both of them below.
What happens to Yuusuf in Eric?
Yuusuf is one of the few main characters in Eric that doesn’t appear in the epilogue. So, we have to use some imagination to figure out what happened to him.
Even though he technically didn’t kidnap Edgar initially, Yuusuf is more than likely on the run or in jail. When he made the phone call demanding the $25,000 in reward money in exchange for Edgar, he said:
“You bring the money. In cash. I’ll bring the boy. 9:00 tonight. If I see cops, you don’t get him. You talk to anyone, he will not be there.”
Yuusuf had already broken the law when he didn’t immediately report Edgar’s location. However, when he made the above statement, he put himself in the position to be charged with kidnapping. How he treated Edgar doesn’t matter, and it’s likely the original warrant for Yussuf’s arrest was never rescinded.
Neither Vincent nor Cassie would have the option to drop the charges here. For a felony like kidnapping, it’s the state’s decision whether to prosecute or not, and it’s unlikely the local DA would opt out.
What happened to Raya in Eric?
Raya dies in episode five of Eric. As she’s trying to take Edgar to TJ, the two slip off a ladder in the sewer. Edgar survives, but she drowns, and her body is washed out toward the river.
Detective Ledroit reveals Raya’s death to Cassie in episode 6. She’s found near the Hudson with Edgar’s jacket wrapped around her, which is initially taken as a bad sign. It’s not shown how, but Edgar manages to live through the fall and find his way out of the sewers.
