One Piece: What Is the Mother Flame? Weapon Explained

Many fans are curious to know what the Mother Flame is in One Piece. Fans who are currently up to date with the manga are slowly learning more about this mysterious substance. So, here is a guide on the Mother Flame in One Piece and whether it’s an Ancient Weapon.

This guide will contain some spoilers from Chapter 1116.

What is the Mother Flame in One Piece?

Vegapunk created the Mother Flame, which is a kind of substance inside a power plant in Egghead. It serves as an important source of power for Imu and the Gorosei (Five Elders). Since Vegapunk is the only one who knows how to make it, the Gorosei want it to be well-protected.

While the Mother Flame has been mentioned before, it was only in the recent chapters that fans found out what it actually looks like. It is a small flame inside a giant tank with some sort of liquid inside and the tank has the label “S-108” on it.

Initially, it was only going to be an unlimited energy source. However, Imu and the Gorosei used it for something else. They used the Mother Flame to fuel an incredibly powerful weapon, which is capable of obliterating a whole island as seen in what happened to Lulusia Kingdom.

Is the Mother Flame an Ancient Weapon?

The Mother Flame is something that acts as a source of energy. While there’s no confirmation so far about it being an Ancient Weapon, it is certainly capable of powering up one, as confirmed in the spoilers from Chapter 1116.

Following this information, some fan theories say that Imu and the World Government might have Uranus or Pluton, one of the Ancient Weapons. This is what they might have used to destroy the Lulusia Kingdom. So far, we know that Pluton is a battleship that can cause damage that’s massive enough to destroy an island in one hit. On the other hand, fans still don’t know what Uranus is just yet.
