While the main Fairy Tail franchise by Hiro Mashima is over, the series will continue its run by adapting its manga sequel, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, into an anime. A recent poster of the upcoming arc has been revealed, along with the introduction of several new characters. The upcoming anime, which J.C. Staff produces, is scheduled to premiere on July 7 at 5:30 p.m. JST / 4:30 a.m. EDT.
As is known, some of the strongest Fairy Tail characters have an incredible range of powers and abilities. Mashima’s series is filled with several characters, each with their own unique set of powers. From Dragon Slayer magic to basic Elemental Control magic, the series shows many characters with interesting powers. That said, some characters stand on top for their sheer strength and magic prowess, and some of them are listed below.
Acnologia
The most powerful character in the series is undoubtedly Acnologia. His powers are terrifying, and several characters lose their lives going against him. When S-Class Mage Gildarts tried to track him, he almost died due to the fatal injuries inflicted upon him by the antagonist. Acnologia even overpowered the strongest members of the Spriggan 12 without breaking a sweat.
Interestingly, Zeref wanted to acquire enough power to stop Acnologia’s antics since he was an enormous dragon who had previously killed other dragons. Acnologia’s fight with some of the strongest characters in the series had been entirely one-sided, as he sliced them in one attack. Acnologia was a ruthless villain, and his terror in the world impacted the narrative significantly.
Natsu Dragneel
Natsu Dragneel, the protagonist of Fairy Tail and one of the strongest characters in the series, has immense potential to climb up the power-scaling ladder. Even though several enemies have defeated him, Natsu has always come back stronger than ever and overwhelmed his opponents.
He possesses Fire Dragon Slayer magic, and emotions are his driving force. There are moments in the series when nothing is left for him and his comrades, but Natsu pulls the power of friendship, and an incredible surge of strength helps him overcome those situations. So far, he has defeated some of the strongest villains in the series like this, and in the next arc, Natsu will continue to grow stronger.
Zeref Dragneel
Natsu’s older brother, Zeref Dargneel, is different from a typical villain in a shonen series. He wanted to bring his brother back, which is why he walked on the path of darkness. Moreover, he was a master of Black Magic, earning him the most evil mage.
Zeref possessed Ankhseram’s Black Magic, which granted him the power to kill anything he wanted. He was cursed with Immortality, and his healing capabilities were surprisingly quick. Zeref could also use teleportation and telepathy, which enabled him to launch surprise attacks on his opponents.
Gildarts Clive
Known as the “Ace of Fairy Tail,” Gildarts is one of the strongest S-class mages in the guild. He possesses Crush magic, which, as the name suggests, crushes everything into pieces. However, he often relies on his guild mates because of his irresponsible behavior.
Since Gildarts can crush anything, splitting them into cubes so as to attack them easily. This applies to every matter he touches, including magic. During his battle against God Serena in the Alvarez Empire Arc, he pushed his strengths to even greater extents. His opponent was already considered the strongest mage in the entire continent, which further showed Gildarts’ resilience and capability. He also took on August, one of Zeref’s guards.
God Serena
Boasting the “Eight-Dragon God Serena” title, this man lived up to his moniker. He was introduced in the Alvarez Empire Arc in Fairy Tail. Serena held the topmost position among the Wizard Saints of Ishgar, which implied he was the strongest mage in the entire continent. However, he joined the Spriggan 12, an even stronger group of mages in the Alvarez Empire.
His powers were spectacular, as he possessed every type of Dragon Slayer magic. With such flexible powers, he was a terrifying opponent. Notably, his abilities could even diminish the strongest characters in Ishgar, as his probability of winning against them was high.
