The new Thai BL series My Stand-In released episode 3 on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 8 p.m. ICT. The series is available to stream on iQIYI. In this drama, the stuntman for a famous actor, Joe (Poom Phuripan Sapsangsawat), gets close to Ming (Up Poompat Iam-samang). However, Joe’s world turns upside down when he realizes that Ming sees him as Tong’s replacement. With a broken heart, Joe is forced to work on another set, where he meets with an accident. Things take a turn as Joe wakes up in the body of another person with the same name.
Episode 3 of My Stand-In begins with Joe and Ming going to the mall together. When the former says he’s been wanting to use a pair of couple mugs for a long time but didn’t have anyone, Ming says he’s not Joe’s “someone.” The latter adds that Joe wouldn’t want Ming to be his boyfriend if they keep living together.
Despite that, after returning home, Joe shows Ming the pair of couple pillow covers he got. The former then shows the latter a brochure for a house, as he thinks his place is too old for the pair. After Joe walks away, Ming skeptically crushes it. Meanwhile, the former finds ways to earn extra money for the new house. Later, Director Pao asks Joe to film another important scene as Tong’s stand-in.
Afterward, Wut visits Joe and informs him that people were speaking about Tong’s stand-in “stealing his scene.” Wut handled the situation, as the production will re-shoot the scene with Tong. The former adds that he will not let Joe’s work go to waste as he has sent his acting video to other producers. Later, Joe asks Ming to join him for the upcoming wrap party, and the latter says yes.
My Stand-In episode 3 recap: Up Poompat feels jealous
At the party, Tong tells Joe he may have to prepare a new stand-in after seeing the latter’s acting. The former adds that he doesn’t want Joe to feel sad about his scene getting cut out. When Ming approaches and greets Tong, Joe excuses himself from the table. Later, Sol finds Joe by himself and asks him about Tong and Ming. Sol then asks Joe out for Christmas, but the latter turns him down, saying he and Ming are together now. After congratulating Joe, Sol hugs him. However, Ming interrupts and pulls Joe away.
Ming takes Joe to a restroom and aggressively starts kissing him. When the latter pushes the former back, Ming says he asked Joe not to get involved with Sol. Joe explains that they are in the same agency. Ming continues to kiss him while Joe tries to stop him. Ming stops when Tong sees the pair and asks the former to follow him. Later, during the dinner, Joe is informed that Pao wants him as a supporting cast member in his new movie. However, Joe is taken aback after finding out that Sol and Tong will be in the movie too.
Later, Tong demands Joe continue being his stand-in. He reveals that Ming is from the Akkrayotha Group’s family. Tong then accuses Joe of taking a “shortcut.” He even warns Joe and asks him to stop what he’s doing before Ming’s family finds out. Later, at home, Joe asks Ming if he’s happy with him. The latter assures Joe he is happy and asks him to go out on Christmas.
My Stand-In episode 3 recap: Poom Phuripan finds out the ‘replacement’ truth
Ming takes Joe to an expensive restaurant, where Joe gifts Ming a new watch. Right when Ming is about to give his gift to Joe, Tong and Ming’s sister approach them. They invite the pair to join them. When Tong asks why Ming and Joe are together on Christmas Day, Sol intervenes and says he invited Joe, who happened to run into Ming. Sol takes Joe away and expresses his concern about Joe being with Ming, who comes from an elite family.
Meanwhile, after finding out Tong will propose to May, Ming tears up as he reminisces about his long-time crush on Tong. When Ming returns to Joe’s place drunk, the latter finally sees the gift the former got him—the pair of mugs that Joe liked earlier. However, his joyous heart, as well as the mugs, are soon shattered when Ming hugs Joe, assuming he’s Tong, and says, “Tong, why didn’t you choose me?”
