Frankly Speaking Episode 2 Recap & Spoilers: Why Did Go Kyung-Pyo Get Slapped at an Award Show?

Frankly Speaking episode 2 aired on Thursday, May 2, 2024, on JTBC and Netflix. Starring Go Kyung-Pyo as Song Ki-Baek and Kang Han-Na as On Woo-Joo, the K-drama revolves around Ki-Baek’s condition, where he cannot lie.

In the previous episode, Ki-Baek was introduced as a polite announcer who wanted to be a news anchor. He worked hard in the broadcasting company without any complaints so that his boss could make his dream come true. But his life turned upside down after he participated in variety show writer Woo-Joo’s show. He accidentally got electrocuted and became a strange person who could not lie.

Frankly Speaking episode 2 focuses on Ki-Baek’s struggle to accept his condition. He faces a difficult time at work and panics when he is asked to host an award show. Initially, things go well, but later, Ki-Baek fails to control his tongue. He takes a dig at the best actor winner, who slaps the host in return.

Frankly Speaking episode 2 spoilers: Go Kyung-Pyo’s strange behavior lands him in trouble at work

Frankly Speaking episode 2 begins with Song Ki-Baek realizing he has made a big mistake. Earlier, he lashed out at a celebrity for harassing his crew, leaving everyone in shock. The next day, Ki-Baek tries to figure out why he cannot control his tongue.

He tries to avoid his boss at work; however, he throws insults at a few co-workers who have always taken advantage of his polite nature. Woo-Joo visits Ki-Baek, who continues to ignore her. She requests that he apologize to the celebrity, but he denies it. He points out that Woo-Joo should not let a star harass his crew.

Later, he has difficulty controlling his tongue while speaking to his boss. Eventually, the latter gives him a second chance and asks him to host an award show. Meanwhile, Woo-Joo struggles to keep her show running after the disastrous incident with Ki-Baek. She is also worried about him behaving strangely since the accident. Hence, Woo-Joo takes Ki-Baek to see a doctor.

Meanwhile, the celebrity’s fans criticize Ki-Baek and attack him in the middle of the street. He runs to his parents’s house to hide, but gets hurt by the way they treat him. On the day of the award ceremony, Ki-Baek trains himself to control his thoughts and lie in front of people. But things get ugly when suddenly he is unable to hold his tongue. The event ends with the best actor winner slapping Ki-Baek on stage.

Frankly Speaking episode 2 ending: Kang Han-Na misunderstands Go Kyung-Pyo’s situation 

Towards the end of Frankly Speaking episode 2, Ki-Baek’s friend invites him to go fishing. At the same place, Woo-Joo has arrived to take a look at the location for her variety show. 

Ki-Baek takes a break from his friend’s company to buy a few drinks and snacks. While returning, he discovers a nice spot to enjoy the view. He climbs on a big rock, enjoys the view, and shouts to release stress. Woo-Joo notices Ki-Baek on the rock and assumes that he wants to take his own life.

In order to stop Ki-Baek, Woo-Joo follows him and tries to climb the rock. Ki-Baek gets annoyed seeing her and begs her to leave him alone. While running away from her, he falls into the ocean, followed by Woo-Joo.

Frankly Speaking episode 2 also explores Woo-Joo’s relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Kim Jung-Heon (Joo Jong-Hyuk). Viewers will find out more in the next episode, which will be released the following week.

The comedy K-drama airs new episodes on Wednesdays and Thursdays on JTBC and Netflix.
