Reportedly based on the novel The Fool At the End of the World by Japanese author Kōtarō Isaka, Goodbye Earth is a South Korean dystopian series. The plot revolves around a teacher trying to protect her students while a civilization-ending meteor rushes toward Earth. Season 1 premiered on Netflix on April 26, 2024. If you are interested in knowing whether there will be a release date for Season 2 of Goodbye Earth, then this is what we have learned.
Here’s all we know about Goodbye Earth Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there a Goodbye Earth Season 2 release date?
There is no Goodbye Earth Season 2 release date as the series seems to have ended after Season 1.
As of April 2024, Netflix has not greenlit the sophomore season of Goodbye Earth. In recent years, South Korean shows have become multi-seasonal projects due to the ever-growing popularity of the content emerging from the country. However, Goodbye Earth succeeds in wrapping the story within the span of its 12 episodes. By the end, various characters (spoilers ahead) find some sense of closure in their respective lives, and the meteor slated to destroy humanity appears in the night sky. It’s a haunting and fitting end to a remarkable story. It doesn’t need to continue in future seasons.
The cast of Goodbye Earth includes Ahn Eun-jin as Jin Se-kyung, Yoo Ah-in as Ha Yoon-sang, and Jeon Seong-woo as Priest Damiano / Woo Sung-jae. The cast also features Kim Yoon-hye as Kang In-ah and Seo Ye-hwa as So Joo-yeon.
Why Goodbye Earth Season 2 might not be happening
Goodbye Earth Season 2 probably isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the story seems to have concluded. ComingSoon will provide an update if circumstances change, and Netflix announces the second season of Goodbye Earth.
The official synopsis for Goodbye Earth reads:
“As an asteroid hurtles towards Earth with nothing to stop it, one determined teacher fights to keep her former students safe — no matter the cost.”
