Manjummel Boys OTT Rights Sold For $2.4 Million?

Manjummel Boys, the latest Malayalam survival thriller, had its dream run in the theaters. The movie was released to the Malayalam-speaking audience on February 22, 2024, and became a blockbuster. Because of its massive success, the film was dubbed in Telugu and released on the big screens. As the movie is all set for its digital debut, the amount at which the deal was cracked has been allegedly revealed.

How much did Disney+ Hotstar spend to bag Manjummel Boys digital rights?

After over two months of its release, Manjummel Boys is all set for its digital debut. The streaming giant Disney+ Hotstar surprised the viewers with their announcement that the movie will be available in five languages: Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. While fans are thrilled with the announcement, it took millions to crack this deal. According to a report by 123telugu.com, the streaming service paid a whopping $2.4 million to buy the digital rights of the movie.

Manjummel Boy’s OTT release date has yet to be disclosed. However, the buzz says that the movie will be available to stream by May 3, 2024.

While the movie has already reportedly minted $28.2 million at the box office, its digital rights deal seemingly brought in more money.

The movie stars Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Ganapathi S Pduval, Balu Varghese, Lal Jr, and more. Moreover, Shahir has also produced the film under the banner of Parava Films along with Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony.

Amid the massive success of the Chidambaram directorial, its producers have fallen into legal trouble. Reportedly, an investor of Manjummel Boys has filed a complaint for cheating. The complainant claimed that its producers did not pay him the 40% of the movie’s profits as promised. Moreover, the complainant was not repaid the money he had invested. As a result, the makers’ accounts were frozen while the case was being registered. More updates on the case are awaited.
