During a recent interview with Collider, Emmy nominee Melanie Lynskey shared a brand new update regarding the highly-anticipated Yellowjackets Season 3.
Lynskey teased that her character Shauna will have a much darker storyline in the next installment, compared to previous seasons. In addition, the acclaimed actress also confirmed that the cast and crew will start filming Season 3 around mid-May.
“I just had a conversation with them like a week ago, with our writers about the course of the season,” Lynskey said. “I mean, I do know, one of them said ‘Things are going to get very dark for Shauna’ and I was like, ‘ get?!’ I don’t— that’s—.”
What is Yellowjackets about?
“Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age drama, it tells the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness,” reads the series’ synopsis. “The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”
Yellowjackets is created and executive produced by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. It stars Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Steven Krueger, and Warren Kole. Season 2 also featured the introduction of Lauren Ambrose as adult Van Palmer, Simone Kessell as adult Lottie, and Elijah Wood as citizen detective Walter.
