The ongoing modern C-drama Best Choice Ever released episode 19 on April 17, 2024. It features Xu Kai and Yang Zi in the lead roles. The episode focuses on the Mai family losing their beloved grandmother. Chen Shuzhen/Grandma Mai (Wu Yan Shu) calls Zhi Ming (Xu Kai) from the hospital to thank him and Cheng Huan (Yang Zi) for taking care of her. Zhi Ming is on his way to pick up the cheongsam his grandmother had specially ordered. Grandma Mai is beyond happy to be discharged from the hospital.
The whole Mai family is excited to meet and have a meal with Grandma Mai. But sadly, she suffers a cardiac arrest and passes away. Cheng Huan and Zhi Ming come to the hospital to greet her and take her home, but instead, they find that their grandmother is no more.
The family hosts a memorial service to bid farewell to Grandma Shuzhen. Cheng Huan and Zhi Ming pay their respects with the last gifts they have prepared for their grandmother. Cheng Huan remembers her grandmother as someone who always loved smiling. She urges everyone not to be sad as it would upset Grandma Mai.
Shuzhen’s attorney says that she had prepared a video for her future funeral to be shown to her family members. In the video, she says humans should learn to rely on each other. She brought a bunch of strangers together and made a family. Grandma Mai promises to reunite with her family one day in heaven. She also has individual messages for each of her family members.

After the service is over, Cheng Huan breaks down crying. Her parents and brother come to console her. Cheng Huan goes to her grandmother’s room and recalls all the happy memories she has of her. She falls asleep while crying. On the other hand, Zhi Ming, too, can not stop thinking about his grandmother.
Meanwhile, Grandma Mai visits Cheng Huan in her dream. She embraces her and asks her not to be too sad. She tells Cheng Huan that she has to walk the rest of the path alone.
The next morning, Zhi Ming comes to visit Cheng Huan. They find solace in each other’s company. Zhi Ming opens up about how his grandmother saved him when he had nowhere to go. His mother had debts and fled from place to place. It was his grandmother who paid off the debts and made sure that he continued his education.
In episode 19 of Best Choice Ever, Cheng Huan finds out that Zhi Ming has not been taking care of himself. Furthermore, he has been overworking to cope with his pain. She decides to visit him. She tidies up his place and brings him a gift to cheer him up.
Cheng Huan and Zhi Ming visit their grandmother’s grave together. Cheng Huan receives a call from her grandmother’s lawyer regarding her will. In her will, Grandma Mai has left things for each of her beloved family members. Zhi Ming is surprised to find out that Cheng Huan will inherit the line of hotels that she owns.
