Nightbitch Release Date Announced for Amy Adams Horror Comedy

Nightbitch, the new Amy Adams horror comedy movie, will be released in United States theaters this December.

Searchlight Pictures has announced that Nightbitch will be released in theaters on December 6, 2024.

What is Nightbitch about?

The logline, according to Deadline, for Nightbitch sees Adams play a woman “thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler in the suburbs, who slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a canine.”

A Quiet Place Part II’s Scoot McNairy plays Adams’ character’s husband in the film.

Nightbitch is based on Rachel Yoder’s 2021 novel of the same name. The movie is written and directed by Marielle Heller, who previously made 2015’s The Diary of a Teenage Girl, 2018’s Can You Ever Forgive Me?, and 2019’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. She also played Alma Wheatley in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit.

“Rachel Yoder‘s book took my breath away,” Heller previously said. “I haven’t felt this way about a book since I read The Diary of a Teenage Girl many years ago. Rachel’s darkly hilarious tale of motherhood and rage made me feel seen. And adapting it with Amy Adams in mind has been the thing that has kept me going through the pandemic.”

Nightbitch is produced by Heller, Adams, Anne Carey, Sue Naegle, Christina Oh, and Stacy O’Neil. The film was given an R-rating for “language and some sexuality” by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) in June 2023.

Adams was most recently seen in 2022’s Disenchanted, the Adam Shankman-directed Disney sequel to 2007’s Enchanted. She’s also attached to star in Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun, which does not yet have an official release date.

Nightbitch releases in United States theaters on December 6, 2024, from Searchlight Pictures.
