Dateline NBC plans to re-examine the brutal murder of cyclist Anna Moriah “MO” Wilson that took place in May 2022. The episode, titled The Night Time Stopped, will uncover all the shocking details about the case and tell the world why jealousy turned out to be the reason for her untimely death. Additionally, it will shed light on police’s extensive search for the suspect, Kaitlin Armstrong. It will air on the network on Friday, April 5, at 9 p.m. ET.
On May 11, 2022, authorities discovered the body of gravel cyclist Anna Moriah “MO” Wilson in her friend’s residence in Austin, Texas. As per CBS News, Wilson’s dead body was first discovered by her friend. The outlet reported that Wilson’s friend tried giving her CPR before the arrival of the paramedics, but she couldn’t revive her friend. During the initial part of the investigation, police also found Wilson’s cycle lying in the bushes near her friend’s house.
As the investigation progressed, the authorities found critical evidence from the night of the murder. CBS News noted that the police acquired footage from the neighbors’ security cameras. Soon, they found out that a Black Jeep SUV went past the house where Anna Moriah Wilson was living. Citing the investigators, the publication also noted that the car belonged to Kaitlin Armstrong.
Subsequently, police called Armstrong for interrogation. After the questioning, she left the US and went to Costa Rica. As per the U.S. Marshals Service, authorities reportedly arrested her from Costa Rica and brought her back to the US. CBS News reported that the court found her guilty and sentenced her to 90 years in prison. Currently, Kaitlin Armstrong is held at the Dr. Lane Murray Unit in Gatesville, Texas.
What was Kaitlin Armstrong’s motive behind killing Anna Moriah “MO” Wilson?
As mentioned above, the court found Kaitlin Armstrong guilty of Anna Moriah “MO” Wilson’s murder. However, the motive behind the slaying became evident after the trial began. After Armstrong’s arrest in Costa Rica, police extradited her to the US. As per CNN, authorities charged her with first-degree murder. Armstrong reportedly denied her involvement in the case and pleaded not guilty.
Although the defense team wanted a speedy trial, prosecutors told the court that they had yet to receive all the evidence in the case, which is why a speedy trial wouldn’t be possible, per CBS affiliate KEYE. In October 2023, the trial of Kaitlin Armstrong finally began and a man named Colin Strickland was also called in to testify. Before arresting Armstrong, police interrogated Strickland, who revealed that he had a brief relationship with Wilson after breaking up with Armstrong.
During the trial, Strickland noted that his relationship with Kaitlin Armstrong was “tumultuous,” reported The Independent. The publication also mentioned that Strickland had a lot of arguments with Armstrong. On the other hand, two of Armstrong’s friends also testified during the trial, who noted how she wanted to kill Anna Moriah Wilson. As per Court TV, Armstrong told her friend that Strickland cheated on her and started a relationship with Wilson. Subsequently, the friend revealed how “in so many words” Armstrong thought about killing Wilson.
CBS Austin reported that the prosecution team argued that Kaitlin Armstrong killed Anna Moriah “MO” Wilson in a jealous rage. The outlet indicated that Armstrong was envious of Strickland continuing to be friends with Wilson even after they reconciled. The jury deliberated for two hours and delivered a guilty verdict.
