The Acolyte trailer introduced multiple new characters, but was Darth Plagueis the Sith one of them? Was he the mysterious persona holding the red lightsaber or was it someone else? Here’s everything you need to know.
Which Sith was holding the red lightsaber in The Acolyte trailer?
The Acolyte trailer showcased a mysterious persona holding the red lightsaber which could be Darth Plagueis, Darth Tenebrous, or even Darth Bane.
The Acolyte takes place during the end of the High Republic era, about 100 years before The Phantom Menace and the Skywalker saga. As the trailer and the posters suggest, it is an age of light, but darkness will begin to rise.
During this era, many Jedi believe that the Sith were extinct, while some believe they still exist in smaller numbers. So, the red lightsaber we see in the trailer could be held by one of the Sith. This mystery person could also be the one that Amandla Stenberg’s Mae is shown to be following in the trailer.
Possible candidates for the Sith lord involved here are Darth Bane, Darth Tenebrous, or Darth Plagueis. Darth Bane played a huge role in evolving the Sith and leading to their return. So, he could be a strong candidate.
Another popular Sith name who is yet to make his live-action debut is Darth Plagueis. He could also be the one wielding the red lightsaber. But since he is believed to be in his younger days during this era, there’s also a chance that his master, Darth Tenebrous could be the mysterious Sith involved in The Acolyte. After all, the Sith Lord pushing back at multiple Jedi seems to be extremely strong and in his prime.
Did Darth Plagueis appear in The Acolyte trailer?
It is possible that Darth Plagueis the Sith was in The Acolyte trailer. But instead of him, other candidates could also be the antagonists involved in the show.
Many people know Darth Plagueis from “The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise,” as he was murdered by Darth Sidious shortly before The Phantom Menace. His age at the time of his death isn’t known. But non-canon Legends tales state that he was around 115 years old.
If this was his age during his death, then he’d relatively be in his younger days during the time of The Acolyte, being between 20-30 years old. That would make him a possible candidate to be the wielder of the red lightsaber.
Mae could be one of his new apprentices as he leads the rise of the Sith. But since there isn’t any clarity on his age, Darth Tenebrous, Darth Bane, or even some other Sith Lord could be involved in the show, as mentioned above.
