He reminds her of his promise, stating that he will always come whenever she calls for him. At that moment, Chu Dal-Ha attacks the king from behind, but Hee-Soo pulls him behind her and gets stabbed instead.

In Captivating the King episode 13, Shin Se-Kyung’s Hee-Soo is unconscious. Due to her condition, now more people know that she is not a man. While she is getting treated, King Lee In investigates why his lover wants to kill him.
The physician reveals that the newly appointed royal Inspector General Kim Je-Nam had earlier asked him to hide Hee-Soo’s truth. When Lee In summons Je-Nam, he doesn’t hide anything. He mentions that he initially joined forces with Hee-Soo for the kingdom’s betterment but now realizes that the king is just misunderstood. He requests Lee In to spare Hee-Soo’s life and listen to her before punishing her. The Inspector General then reveals that she is Master Kang Hang-Soon’s daughter.
Lee In is left in shock by this information. For the time being, he returns to the palace and waits for Hee-Soo’s recovery. At the palace, he helps his adopted son, the Crown Prince, to mend fences with the king’s mother. Meanwhile, Lee In’s concubine/Court Lady Dong bribes Hee-Soo’s physician’s nurse and finds out that Se-Kyung’s character is not a man.
Soon, royal guard Joo Sang-Hwa rushes to King Lee In and mentions that Hee-Soo has gained consciousness. Lee In wants to run to her but takes a step back to avoid more trouble. Later, the two meet during the night time. She tells King Lee In that she is ready for a life sentence as she has committed treason. He tries to understand the reason why she did it and blames himself for the situation.
King Lee In then reveals to Hee-Soo that her father, Master Kang Hang-Soon, is alive. He works as the king’s spy to evaluate the situation between the Qing and Ming dynasties. It appears Lee In has been searching for his master’s daughter for over three years.
Captivating the King episode 13 ending: Jo Jung-Suk suspects his uncle for treason
After clearing the misunderstanding with Hee-Soo, Lee In interrogates Chu Dal-Ha, who tried to assassinate him. The king mentions that he has never labeled Dal-Ha as the Qing’s spy, but the assassin doesn’t believe him. So, Lee In gives him two options — either hide his crimes and live his life far away from everything or accept his crimes and the punishment.
Dal-Ha confesses to his crimes but also requests King Lee In to open an investigation. Towards Captivating the King episode 13 ending, Lee In’s uncle, Principal Director Park Jong-Hwan, requests the king to hand him over the investigation related to Hee-Soo and other traitors. Lee In mentions that they have confessed to their crimes and that he has not opened the investigation for them.
King Lee In looks fiercely into Jong-Hwan’s eyes and mentions that he wants to investigate the real traitor. It appears he has suspected his uncle for a long time and hence says that he has been waiting for this day.
