The latest Telugu political drama Yatra 2 hit the theaters on February 8, 2024. The movie saw Malayalam star Mammootty reprise his role as the late former CM of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajashekhar Reddy. It is based on the real-life incidents and challenges that the minister and his family faced. The movie resumes from where Yatra, the first part of the movie franchise, left off. While it has only been two days since the film’s release, reports about its OTT rights and release date are already making rounds.
Yatra 2 is the official sequel to the 2019 political drama Yatra, which was a commercial success. Apart from Mammootty, Jiiva has taken up the role of the late YS Rajashkhar Reddy’s son, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the 17th CM of Andhra Pradesh. The film focuses on the political rise of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy after his father’s death. Despite a successful first part, Yatra 2 received mixed reviews from the audience.
Mahesh Manjrekar, Ketaki Narayan, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Ashrita Vemuganti Nanduri, Suzanne Bernert, Rajiv Kumar Aneja, and more play supporting roles in Yatra 2. Mahi V Raghav helmed the film and co-produced it. Three Autumn Leaves and V Celluloid produced the movie, while Santhosh Narayanan served as the music composer.
