Fans of Danny Phantom want to know if Tom Holland is playing the titular character in the rumored live-action reboot. Here is all you need to know about the situation.
Is Tom Holland playing Danny Phantom in live-action?
No, Tom Holland is not playing Danny Phantom in the reported live-action reboot, as of now.
Fans have often wondered who would play Danny Phantom in the live-action movie ever since the said project was rumored to be in development at Paramount. Although names like Asher Angel and Aidan Gallagher were suggested by fans for the part, Tom Holland’s name did not show up in such fan casts. Then how did Tom Holland’s name come up?
Recently, Butch Hartman, the creator of the original Danny Phantom animated series, picked Tom Holland as his choice to portray the character if a live-action movie were to be made. In a recent appearance at a MegaCon panel in Orlando (via ComicBook), Hartman said:
“Tom Holland, all the way, It’s got to be Tom Holland.”
It is not a surprise that Tom Holland is Hartman’s top pick for the role. His portrayal of Spider-Man, a teenage superhero with strong morals, in the MCU got him huge accolades. Additionally, this is not the first time Holland was picked for a teenage superhero as the 27-year-old British actor was also previously fan-cast as Ben Tennyson from the Ben 10 franchise. It appears that Holland’s youthful looks and his ability to do justice to such roles have made him a popular fan cast for teenager roles.
It should be noted that the above-mentioned live-action Danny Phantom project has not been officially confirmed to be in the works as of writing this.
