According to Variety, Watchmen star Malin Åkerman has signed on for the leading role in Starz’s forthcoming thriller drama, The Hunting Wives.
Åkerman will be playing the role of Margo Banks. This marks Åkerman’s latest TV project since appearing in Hulu’s Dollface and Showtime’s Billions. Production on the eight-episode series is expected to begin in North Carolina this spring.
What to expect in The Hunting Wives?
“The series follows Sophie O’Neil and her family’s move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo’s irresistible charms — and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction and murder,” reads the logline.
Based on May Cobb’s 2021 thriller novel, The Hunting Wives is executive produced and written by Rebecca Cutter, who will also be set as the showrunner. Alex Alberts, Tara Roy, and Christina Jokanovich are overseeing the project in behalf of Starz, while Scott Herbst and Courtney Mock will oversee for Lionsgate Television. It is produced by 3 Arts Entertainment’s Erwin Stoff and Lionsgate Television, with Cobb executive producing.
