Dateline: Secrets Uncovered plans to re-examine Glenn Sandler’s brutal plan to execute his wife to avoid paying millions of dollars in divorce settlement. The episode, titled “Recipe For Murder,” will dive deeper into the case and uncover all the secrets surrounding it. The episode will air on Oxygen on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET.
Glenn Sandler and his then-wife, Betty Sandler, were having marital issues, so Betty asked for a divorce, and Glenn had to pay $2.5 million as a divorce settlement. According to the Sun Sentinal, Sandler met a person who was ready to kill his wife in exchange for money. He gave the hitman all the information about Betty and told him about his wife’s daily routine.
The outlet also reported that the hitman brought him Betty’s phone and keys to confirm that he had done everything Glenn asked for. However, something peculiar happened, and the police arrested Glenn Sandler in the Home Depot parking lot in Greenacres.
In November 2005, authorities charged Glenn Sandler with solicitation to commit murder and cocaine trafficking. The accused took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to all the charges. As a result, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison, per Sun Sentinel. However, according to Florida’s Department of Corrections, Glenn Sandler walked out of prison in August 2018. His current whereabouts are unknown.
How was Glenn Sandler caught?
As mentioned above, Glenn Sandler hired a hitman to kill his wife, Betty. However, the authorities didn’t take much time to arrest the culprit. It turns out that the hitman he hired for the job was an undercover agent. The murder never took place.
According to the aforementioned Sun Sentinel report, Glenn met the undercover agent and told him he had previously tried to hire someone else for the job. But he ran off with the money. Citing the police, the outlet also mentioned that during his meeting with the undercover agent, he bragged about flying drugs from Colombia to Miami.
To check if he was telling the truth, the undercover cop asked him to fly 11 pounds of cocaine from Lantana to Sebring. Surprisingly, Glenn didn’t take much time to complete the task, per Sun Sentinel. As per reports, he allegedly paid $15,000 to the undercover agent posing as a hitman.
Glenn Sandler took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to all the charges. According to the plea deal agreement, the court ordered him to pay a $250,000 fine and to “forfeit his four-seater Mooney M20J airplane.”
