Blumhouse (via ScreenRant) has released a new poster for its upcoming horror feature, Imaginary, which will tap into the idea of a childhood imaginary friend turning evil. This comes after last year’s releases of the motion poster and trailer, which tease what’s next for Blumhouse following the success of M3GAN.
Helmed by Fantasy Island director Jeff Wadlow and written by Wadlow, Greg Erb, and Jason Oremland, Imaginary will arrive in American theaters on March 8, 2024, from Blumhouse and Lionsgate. Wadlow and Jason Blum both serve as producers.
The film was originally scheduled for a February release but was delayed due to the now-concluded Hollywood strikes. You can check out the newly released poster down below:
What is Imaginary about?
The upcoming horror feature plays into the idea of one’s innocent figments of childhood turning out to be something more terrifying than it seems. Imaginary stars DeWanda Wise (Someone Great) as Jessica and Pyper Braun (Country Comfort) as Alice. The rest of the cast includes Tom Payne (MindGamers), Taegen Burns (The Gateway), Veronica Falcón (A Million Miles Away), and Betty Buckley (Split).
The synopsis for Imaginary reads: “When Jessica (Wise) moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest stepdaughter Alice (Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.”
Imaginary premieres on March 8, 2024.
