Former WWE star Shawn Spears has recently announced his departure from AEW. He was one of the initial signees with AEW, making his mark in the Casino Battle Royal at Double or Nothing in 2019. Following QT Marshall’s departure announcement, Spears is another name leaving the promotion in the upcoming year.
The news of Shawn Spears parting ways with AEW was first reported by Fightful Select. Shortly thereafter, the AEW star took to Twitter to confirm the news. In his tweet, he expressed his gratitude to AEW for their support. In addition to that, he emphasized that the decision to leave was entirely his own. He also revealed that he is poised to become a free agent starting January 1, 2024.

This announcement comes at a time when the wrestler had recently shared the news of expecting his second child with his wife, Cassie Lee, fka Peyton Royce, in WWE.
Spears in AEW was with The Pinnacle, aligning with FTR and Tully Blanchard to support leader MJF as he ascended to the main event scene. Throughout 2022 and 2023, he was predominantly absent from in-ring action and mostly kept a low profile on television. Now, it will be interesting to see what move Shawn Spears makes next in his professional wrestling career.
