Those wondering why ITVX Premium still has ads and/or whether users can skip ads will find all of the information they need in this guide. Here’s the need-to-know info about ITVX and its ads.
Why does ITVX Premium still have ads?
ITVX Premium still has ads “due to licensing restrictions.”
While those with Premium should see fewer ads across programs, some shows will still have adverts interrupting the content. Examples of shows that still feature ads even with a Premium paid-for subscription include Family Guy, Hart of Dixie, and One Tree Hill.
When one of the TV shows or movies that have ads is selected, users will see the following message:
“We’re sorry, due to licensing restrictions this programme will contain ads.”
This message at least makes it easy for the user to decide if they want to continue watching or find another show/movie that doesn’t have ads.
Sadly, that’s just how ITVX Premium works. Users pay to remove most ads, but some adverts will still remain.
Can you skip ads on ITVX?
No, you can’t skip ads on ITVX.
Even if you’re a paid Premium subscriber, ads you see can’t be skipped. There’s no skip button, as it’s totally intentional for users to be forced to sit through advertisements.
While other streaming services permit users to sip an ad after a few seconds have passed, ITVX has no such feature. Instead, users must simply sit and wait for the ads to run through and be over. Then, they can continue watching their chosen TV show or movie.
It’s possible that ITVX will eventually make it possible to skip ads in some fashion, but, at the time of writing, users can’t skip them.
