On January 6, the second cour of The Apothecary Diaries will finally get underway, and recently, TOHO Animation released a teaser trailer. This new segment should bring more elements of surprise, with attractive theme songs and the addition of new cast members.
The trailer gives glimpses of future episodes and new theme songs. Uru has performed the captivating opening theme “Ambivalent,” and Wacci has performed the mesmerizing ending theme “Ai wa Kusuri” (Love is Medicine). Additionally, the anime’s website revealed new cast members – Takuya Kirimoto will play the strategist, Lakan, and Kaori Nazuka will play the mysterious court lady, Suirei.
Starting with three episodes that premiered on October 21, the series continues airing in both subtitled and dubbed versions.
Norihiro Naganuma directs the anime at TOHO Animation and OLM, and Akinori Fudesaka is the assistant director. Yukiko Nakatani is the character designer, while sound direction is done by Shōji Hata. Satoru Kousaki, Kevin Penkin, and Arisa Okehazama are the music composers for this anime.

Originally posted on the website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2011 and released as novels in 2014, now the story has been transformed into a lively manga series. Enticing readers of Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan since 2017, the manga will see its English release this May in print.
Maomao’s medical misadventures continue. The Apothecary Diaries Part 2 brings readers another volume of palace intrigue. This part is filled with surprises and a fascinating cocktail.
