Rumors suggesting that Alan Ritchson is next in the running to play Batman have been spreading. The rumors claim that Ritchson will be playing the DCU version of Batman and starring in The Brave and the Bold. Here’s what you need to know about the latest rumors.
Is Alan Ritchson going to play Batman in the DCU?
Alan Ritchson is not confirmed to be playing Batman in the DCU. However, he has expressed that he “would love to play Batman.”
In an interview with Fortress of Solitude, the Reacher star explained that he has heard the Batman rumors and would love to take the role. However, he did not confirm that he was actually in talks with James Gunn or anyone else behind the new DCU.
Instead of confirming or denying the rumors, Ritchson simply compared and contrasted his role of Reacher with that of the Caped Crusader. He explained Batman is “cooler,” and has resources that aren’t available to Jack Reacher.
Will Alan Ritchson play a Marvel or DC superhero?
Alan Ritchson has already played the DC superhero Aquaman. He played the variant from Smallville.
Clearly he’s already had the superhero experience on the TV screen, but maybe Ritchson is itching for something bigger within the DCU. With the actor already saying he’d love to play Batman, perhaps it’s now just a matter of James Gunn or someone similar reaching out to recruit him.
Needless to say, now that he’s bulked up even more for season 2 of Jack Reacher, Alan Ritchson certainly has he physique to play a more physically intimidating Batman. We saw a more brutal version of Batman with Ben Affleck which Ritchson’s variant could potentially one-up.
