Animal Movie Song ‘Arjan Vailly’: What does it mean?
Released by the makers weeks ahead of the film’s December 1 launch, “Arjan Vailly” quickly became an internet sensation. This Animal song amassed a staggering 75 million views on YouTube within mere three weeks. As of now, the song continues to trend in the music section, showcasing its undeniable popularity among audiences.
Acclaimed composer Manan Bhardwaj has composed this song and Bhupinder Babbal has brought it to life with his soulful voice and poetic prowess. The song’s success lies not only in its contemporary appeal but also in its deep roots within the rich tradition of Dhadi-Vaar music.
“Arjan Vailly” draws inspiration from the Dhadi-Vaar musical genre, rooted in Sikh tradition, serving as historical war cry to bolster the courage of soldiers. The roots of this musical style can be traced back to the era of Guru Gobind Singh. The tenth Sikh guru, who employed it to uplift the spirits of warriors in their battle against the Mughals.
The title “Arjan Vailly” is a homage to Arjan Singh Nalva, the valiant son of Hari Singh Nalva. The latter was the Commander-in-Chief of the Sikh Khalsa Fauj. Legend has it that Arjan Singh, also known as Arjan Vailly, continued his father’s legacy of protecting Sikh states from the Britishers after Hari Singh’s demise. All in all, this pivotal detail is laced with Animal’s storyline to a certain extent.
However, not everyone has praised the usage of such a courageous song in the movie. Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan raised concerns about using “Arjan Vailly” in a gang war movie.
Nonetheless, the song stands as a potent blend of history, music, and contemporary storytelling.
