Is Gonbe a cat or a rabbit?
Anyone can look at Gonbe and confirm that he is actually a rabbit. However, Chimney thinks he’s a cat, and even Gonbe thinks that he is a cat. He also uses “nya,” which is the Japanese version of “meow.”
Gonbe is always with Chimney. The two are inseparable. He follows Chimney wherever she goes and he also copies her actions often.
Is Chimney Kokoro’s daughter?
Chimney is Kokoro’s granddaughter. Kokoro is Chimney’s only grandparent who is a mermaid, so Chimney is only 1/4 mermaid. Chimney goes with Kokoro everywhere.
We first meet Gonbe and Chimney during the Water 7 arc. Chimney liked the Straw Hats after meeting the crew in Shift Station. Along with Gonbe, she went with her grandmother, Kokoro, to Water 7 when Aqua Laguna (the yearly storm) was approaching. Chimney was also at Blueno’s bar when Franky needed a refill of cola.
The two were very helpful characters during the Enies Lobby arc. They snuck into the Rocketman (the prototype Sea Train). They went with the Straw Hats, Franky Family, and Galley-La workers to Enies Lobby. Later on, Chimney followed Spandam, Rob Lucci, and Robin. She painted a path on the walls for the Straw Hats to follow and even showed Luffy the entrance they went through.
At one point, Kokoro, Gonbe, and Chimney watched over Chopper while the others fought the Marines. Following the escape from Enies Lobby, their whole group reunites with Iceburg and the Galley-La men. Gonbe and Chimney were there to attend the Going Merry’s funeral.
