Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder’s epic space opera, arrives on Netflix at the end of the month. However, anticipation is already building toward its sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, which arrives in Spring 2024. Ed Skrein, who stars as the villainous Atticus Noble, shared how Snyder cited Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk as inspiration for Rebel Moon – Part Two.
“I remember Zack saying with the second movie that he wanted it to feel like Dunkirk,” Skrein said to GamesRadar+. “So it’s like, there’s a space at the beginning, and then it’s going off. And it’s really, really going off. And, you know, Return of the King, Lord of the Rings vibes where it’s like, ‘Okay, we kind of know where they’re going.’ It’s like, ‘Alright, now let’s just sit back, eat loads of popcorn, and watch it all kick off.'”
What to Expect in Rebel Moon?
“When a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, Kora, a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival,” the official synopsis reads.” Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Motherworld, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a new army of heroes is formed.”
Rebel Moon boasts a large ensemble cast, featuring Sofia Boutella as Kora, Djimon Hounsou as General Titus, Charlie Hunnam as Kai, Michiel Huisman as Gunnar, Staz Nair as Tarak, Doona Bae as Nemesis, Ray Fisher as Darrian Bloodaxe, Cleopatra Coleman as Devra Bloodaxe, Jena Malone as Harmada, E. Duffy as Millius, Skrein as Admiral Atticus Noble, and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of Jimmy.
Rebel Moon is directed and produced by Snyder on a script he co-wrote with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten. Based on an original idea by Snyder, Rebel Moon is also produced by Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Eric Newman.
