After having a great year with Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy’s name has been tossed around MCU’s Doctor Doom. The character finally seems to be getting some traction along with the rest of the Fantastic Four cast. But has the Peaky Blinders actors already been cast for Dr. Doom? Here’s all you need to know.
Is Cillian Murphy the new Doctor Doom in Fantastic Four?
Cillian Murphy is rumored to be Marvel’s top choice for Doctor Doom in MCU’s Fantastic Four.
As per scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the Oppenheimer actor is Marvel’s first pick for Doctor Doom. However, he hasn’t been cast for the part at the time of writing. Furthermore, CanWeGetSomeToast (another account of MTTSH) stated that Doctor Doom might only get a cameo in Fantastic Four.
While Marvel is looking at potential actors for Doctor Doom, it could still be a while before he gets cast. So, the Cillian Murphy rumor needs to be taken with a grain of salt for now.
Besides his success with roles such as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Tommy Shelby, Cillian Murphy also famously played Scarecrow in The Dark Knight trilogy. So, he certainly has the experience and intense screen presence needed to play Victor Von Doom.
Who else could play Doctor Doom?
Mads Mikkelsen and Jon Hamm could prove to be some other great and familiar choices to play Doctor Doom.
Before Murphy, Mads Mikkelsen’s name was rumored for potential Doctor Doom castings. He even showed interest in playing the character back in 2017, when Fox was looking to produce a Doctor Doom solo movie. His casting as Victor Von Doom in the MCU would make perfect sense as the Fantastic Four movie is rumored to be set in a different Universe than Earth-616. So, he can play a second role besides Doctor Strange’s Kaecilius.
But since he has played the villain in multiple franchises, another name that Marvel could look at is Fargo Season 5 actor, Jon Hamm. He also spoke about wanting to join the MCU as Doctor Doom (via Screen Rant) and could prove to be a great choice for the part.
