After reports of Melissa Barrera‘s firing from Scream 7 broke out, fans are curious about whether or not the actress is being replaced in the role of Sam Carpenter and whether or not that role will be recast with another actor. Here is all you need to know.
Is Melissa Barrera being replaced in Scream 7?
Melissa Barrera has not yet been confirmed to be replaced in the role of Sam Carpenter, at the time of writing.
Although Barrera has reportedly been fired from Scream 7, It is unknown if she will be replaced in the role of Sam Carpenter by another actress or if the producers of the Scream franchise will fully retire or write off the character.
However, she will likely be replaced in the role by another actress as both 2022’s Scream and Scream VI fully established Sam Carpenter as an important cornerstone of the franchise thanks to her familial ties to the first Ghostface mantle holder, Billy Loomis. Thus, it would be a very difficult task to get rid of the character entirely.
Moreover, if the reports are accurate, Carpenter’s firing could make the producers try to get original star Neve Campbell back to the franchise. As fans know, Campbell left the Scream franchise due to failed pay negotiations.
Is Scream 7’s Sam Carpenter being recast?
At the time of publishing, Sam Carpenter has not been confirmed to be recast for Scream 7.
However, if Spyglass and the producers of the Scream franchise possibly fail to get back Neve Campbell and want to continue Sam Carpenter’s storyline, then they will no doubt recast the role.
