Pokemon Concierge is an upcoming groundbreaking series that signifies the first-ever collaborative production between Netflix and The Pokémon Company. This is going to be quite different, bringing fans an imaginative and ambitious stop-motion project. The well-known Dwarf Animation Studios is undertaking the production of this finely made masterpiece.
Legendary names grace the series cast, including singer Mariya Takeuchi, renowned for her legacy in City Pop, a Japanese music genre that skyrocketed back in the 1980s. Further, the main theme song performed by her is titled, Have a Good Time Here which marks a celebration of the heartwarming friendship between Haru and her Pokémon guests.
When is Netflix’s Pokémon Concierge stop-motion series coming out?
The series was teased way back in February. Finally, Netflix and The Pokemon Company decided to drop the trailer for this original upcoming stop-motion animated series Pokemon Concierge. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on December 28, 2023.
What’s exciting is that this series will depart from the usual action-adventure tone of previous Pokémon series. Iku Ogawa is directing the show, and Harumi Doki is writing it. Tadahiro Uesugi is responsible for the character designs and concept art.
“When Pokémon need a break, they head to a peaceful resort to relax, looked after by a team of Pokémon concierges,” says a logline provided by Netflix.
Dwarf Animation Studio, which has produced well-known series like Rilakkuma and Kaoru, will produce Pokemon Concierge. As seen from the promotional teaser, this series will use stop-motion animation techniques to tell an array of new, original stories. Also, the comics, anime, and fan contributions to the Pokemon series have inspired this narration technique.
The plot of the show will revolve around a young girl named Haru who works at a resort on a southern island. This story delves into her journey as she learns how to care for Pokémon guests. The guests include Pikachu, Eevee, Dragonite, and Magikarp. Moreover, she discovers a new side of herself while attending to diverse Pokémon guests with her fellow staff.
The iconic singer Mariya Takeuchi, who is famous for her legacy in City Pop, will be performing the main theme track, “Have a Good Time Here.”
The Japanese voice cast includes Non, who plays the role of our protagonist and is also famous for her contribution to other projects such as In This Corner of the World. Moreover, Ai Fairouz from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean will be featured as Alisa. Okuno Eita, known for Yell, will star as Tyler, and Takemura Yoshiko from Tiger & Bunny will voice Watanabe.
The show will also feature an English voice cast with talents like Karen Fukuhara as Haru. She has also worked on renowned projects like The Boy and The Heron. Imani Hakim, who has worked on Everybody Hates Chris, will be starring as Alisa. Josh Keaton, renowned for his role in Voltron: Legendary Defender, will be voicing Tyler. Also, Lori Alan, known for her work on SpongeBob Squarepants, will be playing the role of Watanabe.
