After the epic Loki Season 2 finale, fans have been left asking whether Marvel will launch more seasons of the series on Disney+. Here’s all you need to know about the possibility of Loki Season 3.
Will Loki Season 2 be the last one?
It is likely that Loki Season 2 will be the last one because of the way it ends, and also because Marvel always planned the show to be a two-part story.
As per Moon Knight series director Mohammed Diab, Loki was the only show that was planned as a two-part story right from the beginning. Every other live-action Disney+ MCU show was greenlit as a standalone story.
In an interview with Arabic Marvel (translated by The Cosmic Circus), Diab talked about Moon Knight’s 6-episode format. He also talked about Loki by saying:
“Marvel had determined it from the first day. Marvel’s series projects are all six episodes except for special projects like ‘WandaVision.’ The usual format is six episodes. ‘Loki’ is the only series they said will be in two parts from the first day.”
Watching Loki Season 2 after this statement makes it clear that we may not get future seasons of the show. The following paragraph contains spoilers for Loki Season 2’s final moments. So, jump to the next section if you haven’t seen the series finale.
The ending of Loki Season 2 seemingly gave a definitive end to Loki’s story as he fulfilled his “Glorious Purpose” by becoming the source of power for the entire Multiverse. He took the place of He Who Remains to watch over the multiverse and hold it intact.
Will there a Loki season 3?
Marvel hasn’t announced Loki Season 3, and we shouldn’t expect it to happen after Season 2’s ending.
Considering that Loki is presumed to be the best MCU Disney+ series, it would make sense for Marvel to want more seasons for it. After all, there is still time until Avengers: Secret Wars to squeeze in at least one more season. But as mentioned above, Loki is in a position that cannot be abandoned. He can’t be part of another series of episodes.
Loki Season 3 could still happen with Sylvie. But given that Tom Hiddleston was the face of the series, it’s highly unlikely. We might only see Loki return in one of the future Avengers movies, and that might be it for the character.
