When you work at a computer for hours a day, the idea of glasses that filter out some of the blue light that’s constantly flying at you is pretty appealing. Throw in some Marvel branding, and you have a fun and practical accessory from Gunnar to help you through the workday.
Gunnar has a whole range of Marvel-themed glasses, but I was most interested in the Stark Industries Edition set. They look identical to the glasses Tony Stark/Iron Man wears throughout his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the idea of being able to put on even a sliver of the charisma that Robert Downey Jr. brings to the role is admittedly tempting.
Right off the bat, I was impressed with the sleek Stark Industries case that the glasses came in. It’s rectangular but rounded and is cool to the touch. The corners are made to look like they’ve been bolted on, while the Stark Industries logo sits prominently on top. It feels like a prop straight out of the Marvel universe, which is always an approach I dig when it comes to merchandise.
The soft inside of the case says “Powered by Stark” on the inside of the top, furthering the “immersive prop” feeling. The pouch that the glasses rest in is soft and smooth and says Marvel and Gunnar on it, with a fake Tony Stark signature on the other side to really sell the prop feeling. The cleaning cloth also has the Stark Industries logo on it, so the whole thing plays into the theme of coming from the “real” Stark Industries.
The glasses themselves are incredibly sleek, looking just like the E.D.I.T.H. glasses that Tony Stark gives to Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home. They feel great on the head and, in my experience wearing them for several work days, don’t irritate my ears in any way. They also don’t feel tight at all, which is impressive given my comically large head.
There are different lens tints and prescriptions you can choose from, though I went for the Amber 65 tint. It makes the light of the computer feel much less abrasive without massively discoloring anything that you’re looking at. Given I don’t regularly wear glasses, I have no prescription on mine, but you can also get a version of the glasses that also serve as sunglasses, should you prefer that.
The metal frame is the perfect weight, and the glasses don’t become uncomfortable after being worn for hours. After using them for an extended period of time, my eyes do feel less strained at the end of the day, which will continue to be very helpful going forward. They also look sharp, instilling a bit of that Robert Downey Jr. style into your overall look.
Gunnar’s Stark Industries Blue Light glasses are a great pick for anyone who spends a lot of time staring at screens. They’re comfortable to wear for lengthy periods, they do their job amicably, and they look slick. If you’ve been looking for some strong work glasses that also feature the Marvel flair, you can’t go wrong with Gunnar.
