Fantasy based concepts have been recently explored at depth in K-dramas, and MBC has jumped on the bandwagon with the teaser for A Good Day to Be a Dog, which is helmed by director Kim Dae-woong. Starring ASTRO’s Cha Eun-woo, Park Gyu-young, and singer Lee Hyun-woo, the teaser promises a perfect balance of comedy, romance, and drama.
The television network released the teaser on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. The central concept of the K-drama revolves around the story of Han Hae-na (Park Gyu-young), who is cursed to transform into a dog after she kisses a man. The only one who can undo the curse is her colleague Jin Seo-won (Cha Eun-woo). However, the latter associates dogs with a traumatic incident that he can no longer remember.
Looking at the teaser, viewers can be assured that A Good Day to Be a Dog looks like a big laughter ride with secrets in store.
Park Gyu-young tries to woo Cha Eun-woo in A Good Day to Be a Dog teaser
After impressing viewers on K-dramas like Dali, Cocky Prince, and Netflix’s Celebrity, Park Gyu-young will now be seen in the upcoming fantasy romance drama, A Good Day to Be a Dog. In the recently released teaser, her character, Han Hae-na, tries to woo Jin Seo-won sincw he’s the only one who can undo her curse of turning into a dog.
Cha Eun-woo plays a cold and aloof high-school math teacher, Jin Seo-won, who is afraid of dogs due to a traumatic incident in the past. Meanwhile, Park Gyu-young plays his colleague and a Korean language teacher, Han Hae-na.
The teaser begins with Hae-na writing a resignation letter, determined to not go to school anymore. However, that idea quickly shifts when she discovers who can turn her life back to normal. The next scene shows Hae-na kissing Seo-won as Lee Bo-kyum (played by Lee Hyun-woo) watches them with a shocked expression.
At school, Hae-na apologizes to Seo-won, but the latter knows that she wanted to kiss Lee Bo-kyum. It is evident in the teaser that she likes the Bo-kyum, so it surprises her when Seo-won claims to have that information. When she asks how he knew, Seo-won says, “It was a situation where it was impossible to not know.”
After this interaction, Hae-na wonders what to do when a voice (possibly her friend) advises her that she has to “kiss to undo the curse.” This inspires her to rally behind Seo-won in an attempt to get him to meet her for drinks. Hae-na follows him almost everywhere and signals her desire to have a drink together, but he seems least interested.
However, the teaser ends with Seo-won agreeing to meet Hae-na and the latter hatching a plan to undo her curse, once and for all. But will she be successful? Viewers will have to wait and find out. But behind these comedic moments are dark secrets that promise to cause drama.
Interestingly, Soompi reported that the two actors – Jin Seo-won and Lee Bo-kym – will share more than just friendship in the drama. The production company confirmed that the two men will be linked through a past life connection. A recent MBC poster also sees Hae-na and Seo-won eyeing each other mysteriously. Thus, it is safe to say that A Good Day to Be a Dog is brewing more than what meets the eye.
