Following its digital release, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has finally set the Barbie 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release dates for its widely-successful live-action film adaptation of Mattel’s iconic toy doll.
This announcement comes after over two months since the Margot Robbie-led fantasy comedy made its theatrical debut. On September 22, an extended version of the film was also released for an exclusive week-long theatrical run in IMAX theaters
When is the release dates for Barbie 4k Blu-ray and DVD?
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie will be available to purchase on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD starting on October 17. Special features for the Barbie 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases will include six featurettes titled, “Welcome to Barbie Land,” “Becoming Barbie,” “Playing Dress-Up,” “Musical Make-Believe,” “All-Star Barbie Party,” and “It’s A Weird World.”
Barbie was directed by Oscar nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig from a screenplay she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach. It stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Kate McKinnon, Ariana Greenblatt, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Hari Nef, Will Ferrell, Helen Mirren, Dua Lipa, and more. It also featured music from multiple artists, including Billie Eilish, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Ice Spice, and K-Pop girl group Fifty Fifty.
Thanks to the Barbenheimer phenomenon, the Barbie movie was able to dominate the global box office this summer, as it officially becomes the highest-grossing movie of 2023. During its theatrical run, it earned a worldwide gross of over $1.4 billion against a reported budget of around $145 million.
