Bad Boys for Life co-director Adil El Arbi is teasing a new title and tone for the upcoming fourth film in the franchise.
In a recent episode on The Playlist’s The Discourse podcast, El Arbi, who is also co-directing the next film in the franchise alongside Bilall Fallah, opened up about what fans can expect from the next Bad Boys installment.
El Arbi also hinted at what the official title for the movie could be, though that still has yet to be set in stone.
“Well, you know, the title that we like – I don’t know that they’re going to go for it yet – would be like Bad Boys Ride or Die because Bad Boys 4 Life is already taken,” El Arbi said. “We didn’t know there was going to be a fourth one, you know? But yeah, what’s going to happen in this one is, I think that there’s going to be way more comedy. The third one had the dramatic tone. With this one, it’s really our purpose to get people laughing and having a good time in the theater. Martin [Lawrence] is going to a higher level in this one. This is the culmination of the Marcus Burnett arc.”
Who stars in the fourth Bad Boys movie?
Bad Boys 4 was announced shortly after Bad Boys For Life was released theatrically in January 2020. Lawrence and Will Smith are both set to return for the movie alongside Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Tasha Smith, John Salley, Eric Dane, DJ Khaled, Ioan Gruffudd, Rhea Seehorn, and Joyner Lucas.
Production on the fourth Bad Boys movie began in April 2023; however, it was suspended in July due to the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike. Both the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes are lobbying in favor of better wages, protection against artificial intelligence, and more for writers and actors.
The fourth Bad Boys movie currently has a June 14, 2024, release date.
